Retail Interior Design | Carlos Miele Flagship Store New York City By Asymptote Architecture

LOCATION: New York, USA
SIZE: 5,400 sq. ft.

DATE: 2003
Asymptote’s design for fashion designer Carlos Miele’s flagship store in New York City celebrates the designer’s Brazilian culture, one that champions modern design while being steeped in traditional cultural rituals and aesthetics. These aspects of Miele’s own work were the inspiration for the flagship which is both a shopping environment and a sophisticated and sculpted backdrop on which to display. The store has received numerous awards including a 2005 AIA New York Chapter Design Award and an American Architecture Award from the Chicago Athenaeum in 2004....more

Monki 2 | Showroom Interior By Electric Dreams

The City of Oil and Steel, our second interior concept for Monki, is a mysterious post apocalyptic city, a warm, dark, and biohazardous place; filled with dismantled skyscraper parts, strange vegetation, neon, asphalt, and intensely powerful machinery.
The City of Oil and Steel is a metropolis that has been surrendered by mankind an eternity ago, and gradually mutated into something different. Massive movable machine parts sprawl in all directions.Coloured sprouts spring from a pool of poisonous chemical residue. Giant chains of toxicity float through an endless black sky,
occasionally dipping to touch the floor…
The first gateway into the City of Oil and Steel opened in March 2008, and has since then opened in about 25 locations in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Germany.

Double OO 96 Showroom / Fukuoka, Japan By case Real

"White beams" - There is a small two-storied house which was built a half century ago. And about 40 years ago, a wooden hut with a gable roof was extended on the terrace of the house. The project was to make the hut on the terrace into an office & showroom. The terrace had been extended without any plans for 40 years, and unplanned big and small frames, such as beams, pillars and bunches were running in the air. At first, I took it very negatively. But when I looked at it from a different position, I realized that it could be a unique object. After giving moderate reinforcement, I did a thorough space arrangement by covering all the surfaces, such as floors, walls and garrets with gray painted flooring materials in symmetry. Now only the white painted frameworks run in the air inside of the shape of this gable roof hut. This is a garret office & showroom where only the history of the hut itself and the clothes come to the surface....more

Minorityrev Hirao Boutique | Fukuoka, Japan By Case Real

"A boutique that pursues a memory" - A project to convert a thirty-year-old-zipper factory building into a West Japan maximum level boutique in a residential area about two train stations away from downtown Fukuoka City. The inside, on the first floor I moderately arranged the space by retaining rough and strong factory details and I left as much as possible as there was in the factory of the existing to restore the floor. To take over the memory of a building that has existed in the region for years and to take a part as a new icon in itself, the outline of the building is covered by vines, not renewing its externals. Now a newborn, high fashion boutique covered by green is standing, coming to fit in the region like the green in the park and the trees on the street. Time may give the next value to this building......more

Hotel Interior Design | Mexico City | Nema Workshop

Nema Workshop was invited to participate and eventually won the competition to redesign the guest rooms for a hotel in Mexico City. The winning design gently divides the space into three areas using a portal which wraps the floor walls and ceiling of the bed area. The slight sectional change distinguishes the sleeping area from the workspace and from the bathroom. The bathroom is provocative because not only is it open to the room but furthermore the freestanding shower is in the center of the space, defined by a cylindrical glass enclosure. Meanwhile underfoot, a pebble floor with tiny led lights mixed in lines the bathroom space.....more
