Corporate Interior | Pelorus Trust Sports House | Designgroup Stapleton Elliott

Pelorus Trust identified a need to subsidise and co-locate sporting organisations in an environment to promote synergy and resource sharing, and to foster sport participation and achievement. Working closely with Hutt City Council a site was identified to accommodate this vision.

Consciously edgy and iconic, the design provides flexible office environments to foster interaction between tenants. A large reception and multi-purpose function and conference zone separates two open plan office areas.A simple palette of glass, profiled steel and rendered plastered elements clad the exterior. Internal space is rationally organised across a simple planning grid. A considered integrated interior design solution expounds colour, light and energy efficiency through crafted detailing.....more

The Twinning project | Rotterdam | EGM Architecten

The Twinning project consists of a congress that is flush with the expo hall, and a superjacent office. Starting point in the interior design was that the overall height and size of the original hall had to remain visible. Thus, the modern interior as a 'loose' filling in the spaces with a hung bridge and a staircase to the individual functions accessible. The draft also refers to the originally present 'pavilions' finished with wooden slats. The lining of the curved walls and floors vomrt modern aluminum implementation. All the rooms in which technology is fully integrated into the walls and floors of the object. Twinning is a part of the masterplan Beurs-WTC Rotterdam. This plan includes the upgrading and updating of the low-rise buildings from the thirties and the excavation and service areas located in the tower added later.....more

Retail Interior Design | BILL BLASS NEW YORK | Fashion District | New York City | SPG Architects

This subtly detailed showroom space, with its refined material palette and strong sense of proportion, is very well suited to the Bill Blass vision of tailored American classic-yet-modern clothing. The various degrees of translucency create a refuge of muted light that envelops the visitor in the showroom and makes the cacophony of Seventh Avenue a distant memory. Once in the showroom, the finishes and materials combine textures, transparency and reflectivity to contain, conceal and expand the sense of space in an ephemeral shell that provides a perfect foil for the clothing displayed within.....more

House Interior | Moss House | Tokyo | Nendo

This project involved renovating an old wooden house on the Shibuya River in Tokyo's Ebisu neighbourhood into a live-work space. The house had accumulated some strange and wonderful features -an inner courtyard, an oddly long hallway, a tiny room- from a series of earlier renovations, so we decided to build on these earlier features, but also to "acclimate" the space to the new owner's lifestyle. The hallway became a study, and the small Japanese-style room a studio. Veins of moss pattern the riverbank outside the windows, so we used similar veins of dry moss on the interior walls to subtly connect existing spaces with newly-renovated ones, and the house's interior environment to its exterior one. Most wallpaper imitates nature through a two-dimensional representation of it, and cladding the walls entirely in moss would simply have been too much. We wanted something in-between, so we applied the moss in a pattern that looked like wallpaper, creating an ambiguous texture that's neither artificial nor natural. The same pattern appears on the cable outlet, and on the doorframes and door handles of the office, further synthesizing the moss pattern with the space.....more
